Kinokuniya Bookstore is located at Central Market PIK. Kinokuniya itself is the largest bookstore chain in Japan, that founded in 1927, with its first store located in Shinjiku,Tokyo, Japan. That’s the main reason Kinokuniya is deeply rooted with Japanese culture.
In Japanese culture, all life has meaning and value, which is illustrated in their respect for nature. They have relationship with nature. They strive to work in harmony with their natural surroundings, as opposed to tame it. Houses and buildings are frequently seen as one with nature, blend with the environment.
For the lighting ideas, it seems relevant to bring the impression of natural feel of the daylight into this bookstore, as if visitors are reading under the skylight full of books. The subtle curve meet gradation of light makes lighting ideas felt so modern & elegant.
Although the lighting concept is modern & elegant, we still embrace the Japanese philosophy by show of the simplicity but meaningful through to the attention to detail, contemplative atmosphere, and palpable emphasize of material lightness and/or gravity.
